Visit: Guided tour by Bart Verschaffel

Exhibition view Accelerazione with Giulio Paolini and Gerhard Richter, Herbert Foundation 2015

Herbert Foundation is pleased to invite you on Sunday 5 July at 3pm for a Visit with Bart Verschaffel. Verschaffel is professor in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Ghent University. He teaches architectural theory and criticism, and publishes primarily in the field of cultural philosophy, architecture and art theory and aesthetics.

The Visit of Verschaffel will offer an in-depth reading of a selection of exhibited works. Gerhard Richter often refers to Cage’s Lecture on Nothing, in which he at one point said: ‘I have nothing to say and I am saying it.’ This statement by Cage provides a key to understand the work of Richter. But in a broader sense, it also offers an insight in the relation of other artists like Giulio Paolini and Gilbert & George to history and politics.
