Filmscreening: My secret is that I have none

Hanne Darboven - A portrait of the artist by Walter Smerling (1991)

The documentary My secret is that I have none offers a unique portrait of Hanne Darboven’s thinking and her overwhelming and fascinating oeuvre.

The film mainly takes place at the family home and Darboven’s studio in Hamburg (Am Burgberg), where her life and work unfolded together. Fragments of exhibitions alternate with passages in which the artist herself is speaking up. In addition, her mother, artist Lawrence Weiner and gallerist Leo Castelli also talk about her as one of the most important pioneers within conceptual art.

The screening takes place in the context of the exhibition Hanne Darboven – Welttheater and is realised in cooperation with the Hanne Darboven Foundation and the Stiftung für Kunst und Kultur, Bonn.
