Visit: Guided Tour: The Collection Herbert

by Laura Hanssens (director) and Katrien Blanchaert (art manager)

“We also could have collected lots of other artists. We had to choose. We dind’t have unlimited funds, so we had to be careful. We met the artists and people running the galleries, some critics too…. (…) We used to discuss a lot in those days. These discussions were essential and exciting. They started for us in the wake of May 1968.” (Anton and Annick Herbert)

The collection of Anton and Annick Herbert results from a series of individual choices. In this process of collecting, converations with artists and a selection of gallerists turned out to be crucial.

On Sunday 25 January at 11 a.m., Laura Hanssens (director) and Katrien Blanchaert (art manager) will introduce you to the Herbert’s way of collecting by taking you on a guided tour along a selection of key works presented at the former private spaces of Herbert Foundation – 106.
